Specialisms

Weightlifting

Coach at Newbury CrossFit since 2022

Gemma found CrossFit in 2018 when she was looking for a new challenge in the gym. For her, the main attraction of Newbury CrossFit is the supportive community that cheers the person finishing last as much as the person who finishes first. Gemma particularly enjoys competing and will take any opportunity to jump in on any local event that comes up. She is now a regular competitor in weightlifting events and has won medals on behalf of Newbury CrossFit. You'll often catch her in open gym working on her lifts (work on your weaknesses and all that...) and she is one of our specialist weightlifting coaches.

She loves competing in team CrossFit competitions and she shouts a lot (in a nice way), which tells you all you need to know about her height. She loves being upside down during workouts.

Coach Chris Holland on a rowing machine

Chris Holland

  • CrossFit Level 2 Certified Trainer

  • CrossFit programming qualification

Specialisms

Weightlifting, programming

Coach at Newbury CrossFit since 2020

Chris played and competed in football, rugby and athletics all at Somerset County level from a young age, after which he spent most of his time in a gym, never sticking to the chest and tri days, opting for more HIIT and explosive training. He found CrossFit in 2013 and has been hooked ever since, coaching since 2016, dropping in at boxes around the UK and in Europe, and regularly competing in both CrossFit competition and adventure races. Chris is one of our specialist weightlifting coaches.

Coach Craig Inskip lifting kettlebells

Craig Inskip

  • CrossFit Level 1 Certified Trainer

  • Body Type Nutrition Fundamentals

  • CrossFit Programming

Specialisms

Gymnastics, foundational skills coaching

Coach at Newbury CrossFit since 2025

Craig started CrossFit in 2019 and immediately fell in love with it. After years of working out in a commercial gym and trying different styles of programming including powerlifting, he had found something that he enjoyed. Craig also loves competing in CrossFit competitions and more specifically in team competitions with friends. He never misses an opportunity to blast some country music whilst working out, or whilst coaching at 6am and 7am sessions; who doesn’t love country at that time?

Coach Hannah Jackson riding a stationary bike during a competition

Hannah Jackson

  • CrossFit Level 1 Certified Trainer

Specialisms

Conditioning

Coach at Newbury CrossFit since 2023

When younger, Hannah did both football and ballet (an interesting mix!), moving to running and then finally taking the leap to CrossFit in 2018. She loves that there are always movements you can work on; every day is a learning day, for beginners through to experienced athletes. Hannah’s favourite part of being a coach is the positive, welcoming energy she can bring to people in classes & being able to play a small part in continuing to build an inclusive, fit community. She loves a long conditioning workout (she is known as The Machine in some circles) and a Saturday partner workout.
