The CrossFit Open

Get involved in one of the highlights of our 2026 calendar!

What is the CrossFit Open?

The CrossFit Open is a global online competition, where athletes across the world complete three workouts (released each week by CrossFit HQ) across three weeks (February 26th to March 16th) and submit their scores online, to measure progress against themselves and others.

Why participate in the Open?

The Open isn’t about being the best on any leader board. It’s about pushing yourself, putting your hard work into practice, and seeing what you’re capable when your gym community is screaming support.

It gives your training purpose.
All of our class programming at the moment is designed to help you smash the three Open workouts and it gives you a great winter training goal.

It shows you real progress.
You’ll surprise yourself — whether it’s a first pull up or muscle up, a faster time, or simply more confidence in yourself, magic happens in the Open.

You’re supported every step of the way.
Our coaches will help with scaling, judging, strategy and encouragement so you’re never guessing or going it alone. All the workouts are scaled so you can select the level that’s right for you at the moment (RX, scaled or foundations).

The Open with a local twist

We want to offer everyone a way of participating in the Open, and we love collaborating with our friends at nearby gyms, so we’ve created a couple of ways for you to join the action:

Join the official Global CrossFit leader board.
This is a great way to measure your progress year on year against people all over the world and compete with your fellow athletes - registration is open now via the link below and costs £12.

Join our local charity leader board.
Our local leader board, which costs nothing (although we encourage an optional charity donation to Sarcoma UK) will put you in direct competition with other members of our gym and other local gyms who choose to join us. It’s a great way to add a bit of extra spice and interest.

Do both!
We’d love to see you on both leader boards - you won’t need to do the workouts twice, just submit your scores for each one (which takes a few seconds).

Friday Night Lights!

On Friday 27th February, Friday 56h March and Friday 13th March from 5pm until 8pm we’ll run our epic Friday Night Lights sessions for athletes who want to complete the workouts together.

These evenings deliver energy, shared experience, and successes that lasts long after the final workout.

And there’s pizza, beer and soft drinks after the final week!

You don’t need to be available on these Fridays to take part but if you’re free, book onto WodBoard early as they get VERY busy with athletes and supporters, who are welcome to come and spectate/cheer.

You can book onto Friday night lights now (you won’t need to be available from 5pm to 8pm, just book your spot on each night and we’ll be in touch to arrange a heat time for you).

If you’re not competing in the Open this year, we’ll also need judges and hype squad so get in touch if you’re free to judge (training will be provided) and mark the dates in your diaries to support your gym friends as they push their fitness and achieve new things!

FAQs

When’s the best time to complete my workouts?

Friday Night Lights! On Friday 27th February, Friday 6th March and Friday 13th March from 5pm until 8pm we’ll run our famous Friday Night Lights for athletes who have entered onto one or both leader boards and want to complete the workouts together, with a judge. Our FNLs deliver energy, shared experience, and successes that lasts long after the final workout. And there’s pizza after the final week! Book onto WodBoard as soon as possible to help us plan.

Once you’re booked on to Friday Night Lights, we’ll contact you to ask what heat time you would like between 5pm and 8pm. We’ll do our best to get you as close to that time as possible - priority will be given to those who have signed up to one or both leader boards.

What time will my workout be at Friday night lights?

Yes, you can come to the gym on Saturday or Sunday and complete the workout, you’ll just need to either take a video or attend at a time where we can organise a judge for you.

I can’t make Friday evenings, can I still participate?

Can I complete the Open workouts in classes?

Yes, every Friday for the next three weeks, the Open workout will be feature in each CrossFit class, but you won’t be able to submit your scores from class on the leader boards, as you’ll need a judge to score your workout (unless you can persuade one of your friend to turn up and judge in class!).
